About the Convention
The Department of Veterinary Anatomy, College of Veterinary Science, SVVU, Tirupati is organizing XXXVII Annual Convention and National Symposium of the Indian Association of Veterinary Anatomists on "Recent Advances In Veterinary Anatomy and Their Applications in Improvement of Animal Health and Production" from 5-12-2023 to 7-12-2023. This convention emphasizes the role of advances in Veterinary Anatomy and their applications in various areas of research for the growth of livestock and disease diagnosis. In recent days, the livestock sector is facing a wide range of challenges, including emerging dis- eases, competition for natural resources, evolving demand for animal-source foods and climate change, etc. In recent times, Innovative approaches are being followed for efficient livestock management, which includes research on various anatomical and morphological aspects of both domestic and wild animals. The anatomical innovations are leading to major changes at the field level and are likely to make a major contribution to sustainable livestock management in the coming years.
About the Department
The Department has been in existence since 1955, Dr. V. Panduranga Rao was the founder Head of the Department and continued to be the Head of the department till he retired in the year 1976. PG program was started in the department in the year 1986-87 and the Doctorate program during the year 2006-07. The department has one of the best Museums. It is pride to mention that the staff of different Veterinary Colleges visited this museum on the recommendations of I.C.A.R. and even the staff from the Museum of Arthropoda, Pune, visited to acquaint themselves with the technical know-how of the museum. The faculty of this department has published more than 350 articles in various journals of national and international repute. The faculty also published two textbooks le le "Fundamentals of Veterinary Developmental Anatomy" (2012) and "Fundamentals of Veterinary Anatomy" (2022) and a chapter in the ICAR Handbook of Animal Husbandry and also published 5 monographs. The Department operated the ICAR ad-hoc scheme (2003 to 2007) with an outlay of 20 Lakhs and faculty were conferred with National and State level Meritorious Teacher Awards. This department also prepared the Virtual Dissection software of cow under the NAHEP (I.G) project of ICAR, New Delhi, and is organizing the IAVA conference for the third time.
