I welcome you all to the Inaugural POSI Mid-Year meeting in Mumbai. POSI decided to introduce this meeting for an in-depth discussion on a few common pediatric orthopaedic conditions. We intend to discuss practical challenges seen during the management of these conditions.
The topics of discussion for this year's meeting are Hip problems in Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip. Both these conditions need multi-speciality management. POSI along with many national-level associations has developed Indian screening guidelines for these two conditions. We plan to discuss how these guidelines can be implemented efficiently.
I hope that the discussion which we will have during the meeting will help us for early identification of these conditions. This in turn will help us to avoid surgery altogether or problems can be tackled with a smaller magnitude of surgeries. Both these aims will reduce the requirement of surgeries or major surgeries. This will benefit children, families and society to a
large extent.
I request all the members of POSI to actively participate in the Mid-Year meeting and take advantage of its scientific proceedings.
