About Event
Greetings from the Holy city of Varanasi !!!
We wish you and your family a very Happy and Prosperous 2023.
We are pleased to invite you to be a part of the 33rd NZUSICON at Varanasi on 27th, 28th, and 29th Oct 2023 – a gala event providing a rich mix of innovative, informative, and interesting academic sessions along with the enchanting hospitality of Varanasi.
Varanasi (Banaras/Kashi) is the world's oldest continually inhabited city and an important center of Hindu devotion, pilgrimage, mysticism, music, artisanship, food, and poetry contributing to its cultural importance. The city is known worldwide for its magnificent ghats along the Holy Ganges viz Dashashwamedh Ghat, Panchganga Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, and Harishchandra Ghat. The city of Varanasi is believed to have been founded by Lord Shiva and is the seat of one of the most important Jyotirlingas at the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Rev. M. A. Sherring in his book The Sacred City of Hindus: An account of Benaras in ancient and modern times published in 1868 writes –
“The history of a country is sometimes epitomized in the history of one of its principal cities. The city of Benaras represents India religiously and intellectually, just as Paris represents the political Sentiments of France. There are few cities in the world of greater antiquity, and none that have so uninterruptedly maintained their ancient celebrity and distinction.”
Author Mark Twain wrote in 1897 of Varanasi -
“Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together.”
Varanasi is a renowned tourist destination that draws people from all over the world. The vivacious culture, the eccentric way of life, the delectable cuisine, the chaotic gullies, the historic temples, and the monuments of Banaras are sure to guarantee its visitors an uplifting spiritual experience. Varanasi is like a canvas on which different vivid colors are fading into each other and creating this beautiful complex painting. The city sees thousands from around the world enter its winding lanes and tiny alleyways every day, looking for something and being completely surprised or intrigued by what this town has to offer.
We invite you to come and experience the unique city of Varanasi – a place that would leave you mesmerized and captivated.
