National Workshop on Systematic Review & Meta-analysis

About Event

TAKEAWAYS
These are the major learning objectives of this workshop.
Critical appraisal of SRMAS
Most SRMAs are of a low quality. Thus, one should learn to critically appraise an SRMA and verify if it actually qualifies to make the conclusion that it makes, thus differentiating what can be trusted from what cannot.
Writing robust & meaningful SRMAS
Once you develop the above skill, you can work on writing high quality SRMAs that are both methodologically robust and statistically sound. Next, building upon your strong methodological background, you can start identifying research areas within your interest area or domain of expertise.
Clinical, public health, and policy implications of SRMAS
Inference from SRMAs extends much beyond one or two short sentences from the statistical summary. Instead, there are several different considerations when applying the results to a patient in a clinical setting, addressing a public health issue, or drafting policies and guidelines
The medical industry, regulatory affairs, and SRMAS

Regulatory submissions are increasingly requiring systematic reviews of the existing evidence. Thus, the importance of SRMAs is not restricted to academics, but they are being widely used in the medical industry too.

Tutors of tomorrow

The wheel should keep running. Post capacity building, the participants too can propagate the science of evidence synthesis in the future, be it here or elsewhere.
