It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to NAPCON 2020 at Hyderabad. I extend a warm welcome to all of you on behalf of the entire pulmonary fraternity of Hyderabad and myself. NAPCON 2020 is special for us, as Hyderabad will be hosting it for the first time since the inception of the joint conference of the two great Chest organisations in India, almost 21 years. Needless to say that the entire pulmonary community of Hyderabad is excited at the prospect of playing host to the stellar faculty as well as the enthusiastic delegates.

There are several reasons that NAPCON 2020 will be special for you too. Pulmonologists in Hyderabad in particular and the two Telegu speaking states in general have been conducting major conferences, updates and workshops on a regular basis on such varied topics as Bronchial Thermoplasty, Lung Transplantation, ILD, and Biologics in Asthma among other things, over the past decade. The cumulative experience is guaranteed to produce a conference that one can remember for years. Then of course are the astounding developments that have taken place in pulmonary medicine in the last decade in general and in the last one year in particular, which needs to be discussed thoroughly by the specially handpicked faculty who have spent their life time studying and practicing in these areas.

The scientific content, be it the post graduate symposiums, workshops or the two and a half days of talks, panel discussions and hot topics have been designed with one compelling focal point and that is the young pulmonologist, who is eager to stay abreast with the rapid developments in every area of clinical Pulmonology. At the same time I might hasten to add that, lectures have been designed not to be dull and didactic, but address the all important question: 'how can this knowledge be useful in my practice’.

Last but not the least, NAPCON 2020 at Hyderabad offers a very special tourist experience, with the 425 years of hoary past, heritage monuments like Charminar, the Falaknuma Palace, tallest Buddha statue in the world, the charm of old and new Hyderabad, with warm people filling street everywhere. Gift shops in hundreds, there is something that you can always buy for your loved ones, including the world famous pearls and special exquisite Hyderabadi bangles.

Hyderabad is considered as one of the safest city in the entire country with its lowest crime rate. The best of all of course is the delectable biryanis, mouth watering kebabs, and a unique delicacy called 'patthar ka gosht', which are available in every hotel in every street.
