From the Desk of Organising Chair

It gives me immense pleasure to write this welcome message from the desk of the Organizing Chair of the 31st International Conference of the Indian Association of Palliative Care to be held from 9 to 11 Feb 2024 at Ahmedabad. It is also a matter of pride that the Department of Palliative Medicine, Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, a Nodal Centre for policy implementation, training, and education in palliative care has taken the lead to organize this academic event. We are making the best efforts to follow the footsteps of our pioneers Dr. M T Bhatia and many more who have contributed immensely to developing Palliative Care not only in Gujarat but across the country.
The theme of the conference "Revisiting the Domains of Palliative Care" is aimed to touch upon all the aspects of Palliative Care for cancer & non-cancer patients. This will definitely enhance the practice of Palliative Care amongst various specialists and will train more and more physicians, nurses & para-medical personnel in the subject.
Palliative Care stalwarts from India and across the Globe will share their experience of treating pain and relieving the sufferings of patients. The conference will be a great step toward creating Awareness, Education and Research in Palliative Care. The scientific sessions will cover the specialist palliative care subjects in Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Nephrology & Geriatric Care including its nursing care plans. At the same time role of psychologists, volunteers, and NGOs in providing palliative care will be discussed. Sessions on research methodology and scientific paper presentation are aimed to educate postgraduates on the subject of Palliative Medicine. I am sure the 31st IAPCON will be a grand academic feast for everyone involved in providing palliative care.

Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, I welcome all palliative care professionals: doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and volunteers to the signature event of the year, the 31st International Conference of Indian Association of Palliative Care to be held at UNESCO’s world heritage city of Ahmedabad, from 9th to 11th February 2024 with the theme "Revisiting the domains of Palliative Care".
This conference will share an insight into the various domains of palliative care starting from principles, cultural safety, and communication to the last days of life and grief. The highlights of this program will include pre-conference workshops, lectures by renowned international and national faculties, scientific debates, posters, quizzes and not to forget fun, frolic and mouthwatering food of Gujarat.
I promise you this to be an academic and knowledge-sharing platform for all involved in providing palliative care. The backdrop of the beautiful historic heritage city of Ahmedabad will add to the pleasure of learning and provide lasting memories beyond academics.
