Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and honor to announce that the Department of Haematology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, will be hosting the 2023 Highlights of Past European Haematology Association (EHA) in Asia; HOPE-Asia 2023. This event will be held at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, India from 18th – 20th August 2023.

There has been significant progress in Haematology, both in clinical and laboratory fields, over the last decade. The scientific program has been designed to include proportionate representation from clinical as well as lab hematology. Apart from clinical hematologists and haemato-pathologists, the sessions will also be of interest to medical oncologists, pathologists, pediatricians, and physicians interested in the art and science of hematology. We also expect good participation from other South Asian countries. Renowned national and international faculty from the field of clinical hematology, haematopathology, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation will deliver lectures highlighting cutting-edge developments from the recent EHA meetings.

The conference is also an opportunity to meet colleagues and forge new avenues of collaboration.  Additional opportunities will also be available to interact with the experts during the period of this conference. We request you to encourage your colleagues, residents, fellows and scientists with interest in hematology to attend this meeting.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome the esteemed faculty from EHA, our national faculty, and delegates to the Highlights of past EHA (HOPE)-ASIA meeting being held in New Delhi from 18th to 20th August 2023. This meeting is a joint venture of the Indian Society of Hematology & Blood Transfusion (ISHBT) and the European Hematology Association (EHA).

HOPE-Asia is an initiative started by EHA in collaboration with the Hematology societies of various Asian countries. It aims to bring key advances in the diagnosis and management of benign and malignant Hematological diseases presented in the annual EHA Congress, to the Asian region. The meeting provides a selection of the most important education and scientific sessions of the EHA Congress, which are relevant to the needs of the local Hematologists. The program is created to bring a wide range of topics from the EHA Congress meetings held every year, to the Hematology community in Asia.

This meeting is geared towards general hematologists, clinicians, scientists, or trainees from Asian (SAARC & ASEAN) countries. Dedicated HOPE Meetings are also available for attendees from Latin America, the Middle East, and North Africa.

This year, HOPE-ASIA 2023 is being organized by the ISHBT. The organizers have compiled a program that includes the most current topics presented at the EHA Congress, which will be of interest to the attending participants.

These meetings are symbolic of the word HOPE which literally means “a desire for something to happen”, a wish for things to change for the better, or a particular dream or aspiration.
