Dear all, 
It is our pleasure to invite you all for the 9th CNE workshop based Short term course on “Research Methodology & Publication for Nurses” (Funded by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India) from 29.01.2024 to 04.02.2024. The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a premier Institute of National Importance under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. 

In JIPMER, the College of Nursing is offering courses such as B.Sc. (N), M.Sc. (N) with five clinical specialties, Post Basic Diploma in Nursing with three clinical specialties and Ph.D. (N). 

The students have access to voluminous library and e-learning facilities to enhance their learning. College of Nursing is equipped with adequate learning facility including proficient faculty, various laboratory infrastructures and multidisciplinary clinical set up with the bed strength of 2476. JIPMER hospital is running 27 ICUs in various specialty like Cardiology, clinical immunology, gynaecology, emergency, kidney transplantation, trauma, neuro surgery, neurology, neonatology, obstetrics, paediatric surgery, paediatrics, burns, RCC, liver transplantation, surgical gastroenterology, plastic surgery, urology etc. Students are provided with training in different areas like basic medical science, super specialty, medical, surgical, oncology, emergency, paediatric, psychiatric, obstetrics & gynaecology, and community. 

An exclusive division for research is headed by the Dean (Research) along with various research monitoring committees that support and facilitate good research practices. The funds allocated for research has been increased considerably. As research is the key to excellence in academic medicine and nursing, JIPMER inculcates the attitude of inquiry, acquisition of knowledge and the conduct of research in faculty and students. The office of the Dean (Research) is striving to focus on applied research, development and training across all levels of health professionals’ viz. medical sciences, nursing & allied health sciences in the form of faculty research projects, postgraduate dissertation work, and PhD thesis work and undergraduate individual & group research projects involving human or animal subjects.
Objectives: 
At the end of the course, the delegates will be able to: 

- Strengthen the ability in framing of the problem statement, objectives & hypothesis. - Update the knowledge on the qualitative, quantitative and mixed research designs. 

- Enhance the knowledge on ethical guidelines on human studies. 

- Develop the skill on tool development and validation. 

- Acquire the skill in sample size calculation & statistical analysis for various study designs. 

- Improve the skill on data collection. 

- Develop competency in writing the research protocol including reference style. 

- Acquire the knowledge on paper publication. 

- Develop skills on grant writing for intramural and extramural fund 

- Gain knowledge on various funding sources. 

- Critically appraise the ethical issues in Research.
