COURSE GOAL

Sarcomas are a rare and heterogeneous group of solid tumors of mesenchymal origin accounting for only 1% of adult and 15% of pediatric malignancies. They are broadly divided into sarcoma of soft tissues and sarcoma of bones. Besides histopathology, IHC plays a crucial role in diagnosing subtypes and aggressiveness of the tumor. Management is multimodality. Surgery plays an important role. Radiotherapy both external and Brachytherapy is an important part of treatment. This is one malignancy where Intraoperative radiotherapy is also practiced. Chemotherapy and target is reserved for metastatic disease.
The 44th SUN INCRO PG Teaching course will provide participants an in-depth insight for evaluating and managing these malignancies with special emphasis on radiation therapy and techniques of Brachytherapy. The course will consist of interactive lectures by Eminent Faculty with vast experience in the field.

Amritsar is world famous for its food. Shri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences is located at Mehta Road, Amritsar. There are 150 NMC-approved MBBS and about 80 PG Seats. Besides this, there are numerous paramedical courses. All the depts. are well equipped with the latest equipment. Department of Radiation Oncology is equipped with Telecobalt, Elekta Triple energy Linac, a dedicated CT Simulator, and Bebig HDR Cobalt Brachytherapy.
