We feel genuine pleasure to welcome you to the "19th UP-UK MICROCON 2024" at S.N. Medical College, Agra. The conference is being organized by the Department of Microbiology, SNMC Agra under the aegis of UP UK chapter of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists. Being one of the oldest medical colleges in India, and originally named ‘Thomson School’ during the British Government, the college got its current name as "Sarojini Naidu Medical College" in 1947 post-independence, named after the First Lady Governess of Uttar Pradesh, poet, and freedom fighter, ‘Bharat Kokila’- Smt. Sarojini Naidu.

We call out to you all for the commencement of this convention in the city of Taj. Agra has a rich history, reflected in the numerous monuments dotted throughout the city. The earliest citation of Agra comes from the mythological era, where the epic Mahabharata referred to Agra as ‘Agravan’ meaning ‘paradise’ in Sanskrit. The city lies in the western part of Uttar Pradesh, on the banks of the holy River Yamuna. Though the wonderful allure of the Taj Mahal attracts people from around the world to Agra, the city also offers a rich trail of ‘Braj Culture’ amidst the fascinating tombs and mausoleums. Holy places like Vrindavan, Goverdhan, Barsana, Mathura, etc. are the soul of Braj. Acclaimed for its lavish crafts like pietradura (marble inlay) work, rugs, and leather goods, the luscious Petha, and street food, Agra caters equally to shopaholics and foodies to explore to the fullest.
